Description

Do you know what never gets old? Zombies (literally, see what we did there?). Today ShinoNox and NeedCoffee4That bring you a “zombie” mod to rival any others, that also ties into the StrangerVille storyline.

This Mod lets your Mad Scientist Sim mix up a Serum to unleash new mayhem on the world: The Infected.

 

How it works:

  • Scientists or former Scientists can use the Chemistry Lab object to first research and then create a “Mutated Mother Plant Infection Serum” 
  • Creating the Serum requires Bizarre Fruits from StrangerVille - you can either pick them up yourself (either by buying them in the Curio shop or by harvesting the plants, if you have advanced the StrangerVille Story to a certain point) or order them via any Computer with the “Order plant samples from StrangerVille” option
  • Drinking or administering the Serum to a Sim will first make them sick and eventually, after a couple of hours and two different stages, turn them into an Infected
  • Scientists can also teach other Scientists how to create the Serum (provided they learned it first)

The Infected:

  • Infected Sims are always hungry and will try anything to relieve that hunger: any food left out for them will be devoured, and Sims getting too close might get bit!
  • Getting bitten by an Infected can lead to different outcomes: either the bitten Sim turns into an Infected themselves, tries to fight the Infected, or finds out they’re immune to the Infection, hooray! There's also a chance of the bitten Sim succumbing to their wounds.
  • If your Sim is brave enough you can also pick fights with the Infected - but beware, fighting them has a chance of your Sim getting bitten!
  • Infected Sims will not age or die
  • Sims who are immune cannot be infected and the Infected will ignore them
  • Infected Sims cannot be interacted with (besides “try to talk to” and “fight”) and will not be able to do any activities besides wandering around, creepily staring at stuff, eating any food that's left out for them or biting non-infected Sims. They will never sleep, pee, bathe, cook, or do anything else, just like properly insane beings.
  • Infected have locked motives, but Hunger is always low and cannot be satisfied - they are endlessly hungry, but can not die from it
  • If a Sim sees an Infected, they might get scared and run away

Immunity & the Cure:

  • Immunity can be achieved by either buying the Mother Plant Immunity Reward Trait in the Rewards Store, with the Infection Cure, or by pure chance when being bitten by an Infected 
  • The Cure can be created with the Chemistry Lab by any Scientist Sim who has learned how to create the Serum, but it has to be researched first ("Research a Cure for the Mutated Mother Plant Infection”. Has a 25% chance of being successful, but after it’s learned you can always craft it!)
  • Researching or creating the Cure requires a sample of the Serum
  • Drinking the Cure or administering it to another Sim will attempt to cure them from any infection they might have and make them immune
  • Scientists can also teach other Scientists how to create the Cure (provided they learned it first)

 

Maximum Mayhem:

If your Sim strives for Maximum Mayhem, they need the “Satellite Dish” - a Scientist invention that can be built with the Invention Constructor at level 4 of the Scientist career after having the 7th breakthrough.

Via the Satellite Dish, Scientist Sims can

  • Infect All Sims”: this will turn all currently existing Sims in all worlds into Infected (including the played Sim, so make sure they're immune, before doing this!),
  • Infect Neighborhood”: this will turn all Sims present in the current neighborhood,
  • or, if they feel merciful for some reason, “Cure All Infected Sims”: which will remove the Infection from all existing Sims in all worlds.

Additionally, if your Sim has a Robotics Skill of 5 or higher, they can craft an “Infection Bomb” on the Robotics Table, which, when deployed, infects all Sims in the immediate area around the Sim deploying the Bomb. This option requires the Discover University pack, but it is not a hard requirement for using the mod. If you don’t have the DU pack, this option will simply not be available to you.

All of the Maximum Mayhem interactions require a certain amount of the Serum or Cure.

 

Optional StrangerVille Override:

Want to play the StrangerVille story fighting dangerous Infected instead of tame Possessed? This optional addon is for you!

  • Turns all Possessed Story Sims into Infected
  • Infected can be cured with the StrangerVille story vaccine 
  • Infected can ONLY be cured with the StrangerVille story vaccine or the Cure, it is not a temporary moodlet, so make sure you’re not getting infected yourself while playing the story!
  • Curing Sims with the Cure instead of the Story Vaccine counts for the aspiration objective
  • Defeating the Mother Plant will cure all Infected, story Sims or otherwise 

Other things worth mentioning:

  • Researching the Serum or Cure has a 25% chance of success, but being focused while working will give a small bonus
  • To use the Chemistry Lab object your Sim needs to either have the Scientist Career (Level 1 is fine but we recommend level 4 and working until you had 7 breakthroughs, to be able to build the Satellite Dish needed for Maximum Mayhem) or be a former Scientist (having had that career at any point), but it is not locked to the Science Lab career location, so you can build your own (secret) lab and bring mayhem to the world from the convenience of your own home
  • Having the traits “Brave”, “Adventurous” or “Active”, or having a Fitness Skill higher than 5 will grant a small bonus to getting the “Fight” outcome if an Infected tries to bite
  • Pregnant Sims, Children, Toddlers or Infants cannot be infected and will not be bitten. Same goes for Servos and Ghosts
  • Occult Sims can be infected 
  • Played Sims/Active Sims can be infected 
  • A couple of Debug Cheats are available if you’re lazy and don't feel like playing the story, if you just want to get straight to the action, or if you accidentally got your Sim turned and can't figure out how to Cure them: shift-click your Sim and look at the category “The Infected Cheats” (but we strongly recommend the gameplay way of doing things because cheating is boring)
  • Using the Infect All or Cure All options may take some time to process, depending on how many Sims you have in your save. If it doesn't show any instant effects, please give the game a bit of time to finish processing and if it still didn't work, turn a single Sim, then try the Infect/Cure All option again.
  • If you used the “Turn all Sims” options and travel the world, the game will create new Sims to fill certain roles as needed, so please be aware that occasionally seeing non-infected Sims doesn't mean it didn't work, it only means these Sims were either created by the game after using the option, or are not eligible for being Infected (pregnant, too young, etc)

 

Mod Requirements:

This mod requires the Get to Work, StrangerVille, and Werewolves packs. Don’t install it if you don’t have these packs.
