This Mod is brought to you by Project: Chaos Modding, the collaboration between ShinoNox and NeedCoffee4That!
Tired of EA’s squeaky-clean idea of "secrets", you know, the kind that involve gummy-bear pancakes and toddler-level toilet pranks? Ready to dig up something a little more twisted than "I once peed in the pool"? Welcome to The Unhinged Truth... because snooping through your neighbor’s desk should reveal more than overdue bills and boring regrets.
This mod doesn't just swap out the original 30 yawn-inducing secrets for something darker, it cranks up the dial to full-blown psychological chaos. We’re talking pure, dark comedy gold here. Plus, we’ve added 30 new teen-only secrets ripped straight from the kind of diary you'd burn if you had even a shred of dignity. Think hormonal rage, delusional love confessions, and some very questionable decisions.
“And what about Celebrities?” you ask, clutching your tabloid. Oh, don't worry, we didn't forget the fame-hungry disasters. We've added 30 brand-new, career-ruining, tabloid-fodder secrets perfect for when you want to destroy a Sim’s carefully curated public image. And yes, VIP Sims will pay handsomely to keep their skeletons buried... unless, of course, you want those sweet, questionably earned Simoleons. In that case, leak their secrets to the press, and watch the red carpet turn into a crime scene.
So what exactly does this mod do? And how does it work?
New Secrets:
- Replaces the 30 original secrets with ones that might keep you awake at night in the worst way.
- Adds 30 new cringy secrets for teenagers.
- Adds 30 new scandalous secrets for celebrity Sims.
Changes to the blackmail system:
- Regular Adult Sims pay you more to keep quiet now.
- Celebrities pay even more than that, there's a lot on the line for the VIPs after all! The exact amount depends on the fame level (more fame = higher payout, obviously).
- Teenagers usually don't have a lot of money though, so they're still paying the original lower amount. Teenie cringe just doesn't pay that much.
- New possible outcome: some Sims won't like being blackmailed and will respond rather violently to your attempt.
New Computer interaction: "Leak Celebrity Secret to Media":
- Get paid for leaking a juicy secret about a celebrity Sim to the press.
- Selling the secret pays more than blackmailing the celebrity, but beware - they will NOT like this, and the repercussions may be brutal.
- To leak a secret to the press, you first need to “Confront” the Sim about their secret, just like you do for the Blackmail or Promise to Keep actions. Instead of doing those though, your Sim can hop onto any Computer to sell the secret.
- You’ll receive money immediately, and will get a nice text message from your celebrity friend after they found out about it… NGL, they’ll hate your guts if you do this. Can you blame them?
- Celebrities will lose reputation and suffer changes to their fame level.
- Works only with celebrities (fame level 1+), of course.
Changes to the “Bribe” interaction:
- NPC Sims have a chance to autonomously offer your Sim a “Bribe” to keep quiet about their secret, if you have confronted them but have neither blackmailed nor promised to keep it forever (or sold it to the press). Instead of automatically accepting the bribe, this interaction now offers you the choice between blackmailing, promising to keep the secret, or doing nothing, if you want to hold it over their heads a little while longer.
- Choosing the Blackmail or Promise to Keep actions will now set the secret to either “Blackmailed” or “Promised to Keep” in the Sim’s profile.
- Also adjusted the Simoleons earned by choosing the blackmail option, as well as adding a relationship gain or loss (depending on choice).
Changes to the Snooping system:
- By default, if your Sim gets caught snooping on other Sims, not much happens other than a generic and boring "stop misbehaving" animation. Now, if your Sim is reckless or dumb enough to be caught, expect them to not so politely be reminded of exactly why everyone hates a busybody, in excruciatingly mocking detail. It's a small change, but ya know... immersion and such.
Relationship change:
- There's now a higher relationship loss when you get caught snooping or when blackmailing Sims,
- and a higher relationship gain, if you promise to keep quiet about a secret.
- There’s also a massive relationship loss if you sell a celebrity secret to the press.
Changes to the "Share Secret" Gossip interaction and "Reveal Deep Secret" Deep Thoughts interaction:
- Now your Sim will actually confess a secret to the Sim they're talking to. Be careful who you trust!
Changes to the "Spy on Sim" Nosy Trait interaction:
- There's now a slight chance your Sim will discover a secret about the Sim they're spying on.
Mod requirements:
- Requires the For Rent pack to work, and if you install this without having the pack we will disown you.
- Celebrity secrets (and selling them to the press) will obviously only be available if you have Get Famous - this is not required for the mod itself to work though.
Conflicts:
Conflicts with any mod that changes the game's secrets, the snooping feature, or the blackmail system.
